Argentina v Korea DPR: Group F - FIFA U-20 World Cup Colombia 2011

Former head coach will lead in their campaign, Reuters reported on Tuesday.

The 55-year-old won the 2010 AFC Under-19 Championship for the reclusive nation, also serving as an assistant coach for the national team that year. Following North Korea’s 2010 World Cup exit and AFC Challenge Cup victory, Jo was promoted to head coach and lead the side to an 0-1-2 record in the 2011 Asian Cup group stage.

Jo replaces coach Yun Jong Su, who received a one-year ban earlier this month for an outburst against match officials in the Asian Games final.

While Yun may participate in the team’s training as they prepare to face a tough Group B featuring Uzbekistan, China, and Saudi Arabia, he will not be allowed into the dressing room or the area surrounding the field.

North Korea are one of five participants yet to announce their squad and the only team to have not publicly declared their base camp for the upcoming tournament, which opens on January 9 in Melbourne.
