Okagawa (left) fights for the ball in last year's AFC U-19 Championship
Kyoto Sanga starlet Masaya Okugawa has yet to play a minute of top team football, but his speed and footwork are already attracting attention from across the globe.
The J2 League club has received former offers from top European clubs including Liverpool, Bayer Leverkusen, and Red Bull Salzburg, according to Sponichi.
The 18-year-old, who has represented Japan at several underage levels, is currently rehabilitating from a fracture in his right third metatarsal which he suffered in the 2014 AFC U-19 Championship. But according to local reports, he could choose to leave for Europe as early as this summer.
Okagawa, referred to by some local media as the “Old Capital’s Neymar,” will hope to make an impact in his rookie year for Sanga as they look to reach the J1 League for the first time since 2010.
