The 22-year old, often regarded as one of India’s most promising footballers, impressed during his stint with FC Goa in the Indian Super League and drew plaudits from the coach Zico and marquee team-mate Robert Pires.
“I am interested in going to the Brazilian club,” Fernandes said ahead of the deal’s completion. “Of course, going abroad would help my further development.”
Before he joins Atletico Paranaense’s first team, the Goan-born winger will ply his trade with the Under-23 squad of the Brazilian outfit which participates in the state league of Parana.
