Singapore international Safuwan Baharudin scored his maiden goal for Melbourne City on Friday night as the hosts won 3-1 over Adelaide United at AAMI Park.
The 23-year-old, who completed a three-month loan move from LionsXII at the end of January, found the net for the first time in his third appearance for John van ‘t Schip’s side.
Safuwan struck after 52 minutes when his shot following Aron Mooy’s corner was deflected into the net by Adelaide’s Tarek Elrich. It was a crucial equaliser for City, who had fallen behind to Pablo Sanchez’s goal in the 32nd minute.
Further goals from Josh Kennedy just three minutes after Safuwan’s goal and Iain Ramsay just two minutes before the final whistle secured a victory for City, who currently sit sixth in the league table.
