Newcastle United v Crystal Palace - Premier League

Socceroos captain has been handed a four-game Premier League ban by The Football Association for violent conduct in ’s 3-1 away win to West Ham United on Saturday.

The 30-year-old midfielder was caught on camera swinging his elbow into West Ham forward Diafra Sakho when clearing the ball, but referee Mike Dean did not notice the incident during the game.

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew expressed awareness of the incident in his pre-match press conference before the team’s match against Southampton, but expected consistency and no further action from the disciplinary committee.

“I have seen it,” said Pardew. “I see it immediately after the game, because it was highlighted by the press.

“I’ve seen worse incidents where nothing has happened, so I’ll be surprised if anything happens with this. But the media, as they are, have highlighted it and we’ll have to see where it goes.”

Jedinak can return to the pitch for his Premier League side on April 11 against Sunderland.
