Alexandre Gama has praised his Buriram United side for getting all three points from Tuesday’s AFC Champions League clash with Guangzhou R&F.
A late stunning-strike from Brazilian striker Gilberto Macena was enough for Thai Premier League champions to win the game and sit on the top of Group F.
“We deserved to win the game, we were better and apparently have many opportunities to score,” Gama said after the match. “I think the team played at a good level as our expectation.
“This game was crucial for the group rankings and it could be decisive for qualification. We came to show who we are and what our football style is and we achieved it.”
Two victories in a row has widely boosted the Thunder Castle’s chance to qualify for the knock-out stage, however Gama insisted that his team will not take any complacent.
“Though we won two games and are leading in the group, we have a long way to go. I only care about the next opponent,” the former Fluminense coach added.
“We have more games to go and my players have to keep the same attitude all the time. It is too early to talk about qualification.
“We are not the biggest club in this tournament, there are so many strong teams. This is just our fourth campaign, and we will continue to do our best.”
