Iranian wonderkid Sardar Azmoun has revealed his desire to play in the English Premier League in the future.
The 20-year-old striker, who represented Team Melli at the AFC Asian Cup in January, was the subject of interest from England’s top clubs including Arsenal and Liverpool after bagging two goals against Qatar and Iraq.
“My ultimate goal is to be a successful player in European football,” he told ISNA. “I have a contract with Rubin Kazan until the end of the next season but I’m not sure I will be playing in the Russian League next season.
“I’m a fan of Real Madrid but I’m in love with English Premier League and it would be a dream for me to play in England’s top division.”
The former Sepahan academy member recently joined FC Rostov from Rubin Kazan in the Russian Premier League. Despite joining the club currently sitting at the bottom of table, Azmoun has vowed to give his all to help his new club to avoid relegation.
“I accepted moving to Rostov to work under Kurban Berdyev again,” the player explained. “He convinced me to join Rubin Kazan in 2012. I’m focusing on the remaining games this season to help them avoid relegation.”
