Maldives champions New Radiant name new Australian coach

Defending champions New Radiant Sports Club (NRSC) have appointed Bosnian-Australian coach Amir Alagic as their new head coach agreeing to part ways with Finnish coach Mika Lonnstrom following a run of poor results in cup play.

The 55-year-old Tuzla native began his coaching career in tandem with the end of his playing career in , which eventually led to coaching the Brunei Darussalam national team after leading club side DPMM to FA Cup victory in 2004.

He later joined German side VfL Osnabruck and led the side to the 2.Bundesliga before becoming youth manager of Kuwait’s Al-Nasser and head coach of Oman’s Sohar FC the following season.

Holder of a UEFA Pro coaching diploma from the Football Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Alagic will begin training with his new Maldivian club on Friday as the Blues prepare for their next match against Ayeyawady United at the National Stadium in Male.
