Violence forces postponement of Pakistan-Yemen joint qualifier

’s second leg of qualifier against has been postponed indefinitely due to recent violence in the Pakistani city of Lahore, FIFA announced on Monday night.

Yemen cancelled their training session ahead of the planned Tuesday-night fixture after two bombs targeting a Christian neighborhood of the city killed 14 and wounded over 70.

“Due to safety and security reasons and in coordination with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), FIFA has decided to postpone the 2018 FIFA qualifier match between Pakistan and Yemen which was due to be played on Tuesday 17 March in Lahore,” the governing body said in a statement.

“Further details on the date of the match, which will take place in a neutral venue, will follow in due time.”

Pakistan were beaten in the first leg 3-1 last Thursday in Doha, Qatar.
