Qualification for January’s 2016 AFC Under-23 Championship all but wrapped up on Tuesday night as 13 teams booked their ticket to Qatar.
Group winners Iraq, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Syria, Australia, North Korea, South Korea, Japan, and China will be joined by Thailand, Iran, Vietnam, and Yemen, who were amongst the top second-place finishers.
The remaining two berths are yet to be decided as violence in Lahore, Pakistan delayed play in Group B, which includes Jordan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, and Turkmenistan.
Group E’s Uzbekistan, who finished fifth amongst the runners-up, could qualify for the final tournament if they are not overtaken by Group B’s second-place team.
The top three teams in the U-23 tournament will qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
