Persepolis have appointed Branko Ivanovic as their new head coach following the resignation of Hamid Derakhshan.
The 61-year-old Croatian has been a free agent for over a year following his dismissal as Dinamo Zagreb boss in October 2013.
Ivankovic replaces Derakhshan, whose reign with The Reds saw a string of disappointing results in the Iran Pro League. The club is currently in ninth place with six weeks remaining.
“Derakhshan has resigned from his position as head coach and the club have made a negotiation with Ivanovic in Istanbul on Monday and agreed to sign a one year and two months contract,” a statement from the club read.
Ivanovic will take over at Persepolis following Asian Champions League encounter with Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nasr on Wednesday; assistant coach Hossein Abdi will be in charge for that match.
