Ivanovic named new manager of Persepolis

have appointed as their new head coach following the resignation of Hamid Derakhshan.

The 61-year-old Croatian has been a free agent for over a year following his dismissal as Dinamo Zagreb boss in October 2013.

Ivankovic replaces Derakhshan, whose reign with The Reds saw a string of disappointing results in the . The club is currently in ninth place with six weeks remaining.

“Derakhshan has resigned from his position as head coach and the club have made a negotiation with Ivanovic in Istanbul on Monday and agreed to sign a one year and two months contract,” a statement from the club read.

Ivanovic will take over at Persepolis following Asian Champions League encounter with Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nasr on Wednesday; assistant coach Hossein Abdi will be in charge for that match.
