Indonesia Super League side Barito Putera have completed their hunt for a foreign player after signing former Cyprus international Alekos Alekou.
The 31-year-old striker made his debut for Cyprus in 2005 against Wales, but only recorded four appearances before announced his retirement from the national team three years later.
“We have seen his video. He has good dribbling, finishing touch and aerial header,” assistant manager Syarifuddin Ardasa told reporters.
“We recommended him to our technical director Milomir Seslija and we got his green light. We have signed and also registered him with the league organisers.”
Alekou played for several Cypriot First Division clubs and Greek Superleague outfit Iraklis in his early career before continuing his career as a journeyman in Hungary and Finland.
