’s believes that Tuesday’s AFC Cup draw against Persipura Jayapura was a coming of age performance from his team.

The Bulgarian defender produced a solid performance for the Green Boys at Mandala Stadium, contributing to a result that was crucial for the Maldivian outfit to stay on their path toward the quarter-finals.

“It was a tough game, but one point is good for us,” Dinev told Football Channel. “We were prepared very well before this game.”

“We knew that we couldn’t lose this game, so we gave 100 percent as the coach instructed us in order to keep our opportunity in this tournament still alive.”

Dinev also insisted that the club’s domestic success after winning the Charity Shield earlier this month has played a role in their recent form, as they attempt to win the remaining two matches of the group stage.

“Of course [winning Charity Shield] was a good beginning for this season; after that now everything is doing good. It was the first Shield in club history,” the 27-year-old added.

“Chance to qualify [for the knockout stage]? In football, everything is possible. But I think we can win our next games at home against Bengaluru and the last away fixture against Warriors.”
