Uzbekistan national team coach Mirjalol Kasimov has named his side among the favourites for joint qualifiers of the 2018 World Cup and 2019 Asian Cup.
The 44-year-old tactician has set a target of winning the group stage after the White Wolves were drawn into Group H along with Bahrain, North Korea, Philippines and Yemen.
“I’m satisfied with the draw,” said the former Bunyodkor coach according to UZ Daily. “Our goal is to top the group and continue to fight for the World Cup berth because we are favourites.
“Bahrain have a strong team and it is difficult to play against North Korea. As for Philippines and Yemen, we still don’t have any information on them.”
The 2011 Asian Cup semi-finalists will start their campaign on June 16 against North Korea at Kim Il-Sung Stadium.
