The South Asian nation is reeling from the earthquake, which has killed at least 2,500
Kathmandu’s Dashrath Stadium has suffered massive damage as a result of Saturday’s devastating earthquake in Nepal, GoalNepal reported on Sunday.
Pictures show a collapsed entryway to the country’s largest stadium, which was hosting the AFC U-14 Girl’s Regional Championship at the time.
Tournament participants India, who along with Iran were scheduled to contest the third-place match, have left the country.
“The U-14 Girls have landed safely in New Delhi. Everyone [is] safe,” read a statement from the All India Football Federation.
Nepal’s National League has been suspended indefinitely after a state of emergency was announced by the government.
UNICEF and the Red Cross are amongst organisations seeking donations for ongoing relief efforts.
