Montenegro-born Persib Bandung striker Ilija Spasojevic has reaffirmed his desire to obtain Indonesian citizenship despite the ongoing turmoil in the Indonesia Super League.
The 27-year-old, who first moved to Indonesia in 2011 and eligible for naturalisation after marrying a local woman, has previously declared his love of the Southeast Asian nation.
“I have that motivation (to become Indonesian) because I want to live here despite the many problems, but I hope Indonesian football will improve in the future,” Spaso said.
“I want to perform well with Persib this season in order to fulfill my dream of wearing Indonesia’s national team jersey.”
The 187-centimetre tall striker has played for various clubs in Indonesia, including Bali Devata, PSM Makassar, Mitra Kukar, Putra Samarinda and Persib, scoring 49 goals in 81 games.
