Asian veteran Steve Darby appointed as new Laos technical director

has signed on as the Football Federation’s new technical director.

The appointment of the former Thailand assistant coach was revealed on Tuesday at the Federation’s headquarters in Vientiane.

“LFF and Steve Darby have reached an agreement for the new position as a technical director,” read an LFF statement.

The England-born coach, whose career of two decades has spanned across Asia, also confirmed the move on Twitter.

“Started as technical director for Laos,” Darby wrote. “Loads of talent [and] enthusiasm here and first up World Cup (qualifiers).”

Laos have been handed a challenging group in joint qualifying for the and , with South Korea, Kuwait, Lebanon, and Myanmar joining them in Group G.
