Antonic before an AFC Cup match in 2012
Pelita Bandung Raya coach Dejan Antonic has revealed plans to resume his coaching career in Hong Kong as a result of the ongoing dispute in Indonesian football between the country’s football association (PSSI) and government.
The 46-year-old Serbian described his disappointment in the PSSI’s decision to abandon the delayed Indonesia Super League on his Facebook page.
“I want to return to Hong Kong because the situation within Indonesian football made me disappointed,” Antonic wrote. “The players, coaches and fans are the victims.
The former midfielder, who led PBR to last season’s ISL semifinals, boasts several years of experience in Hong Kong. After winning the Hong Kong League Cup and Hong Kong Senior Shield in his first year with Kitchee, he was named the country’s Coach of the Year in 2006.
Antonic also coached the country’s national team for three years beginning in 2007 and has since managed several clubs in Hong Kong and Indonesia, including Arema.
