Iranian attacker Alireza Jahanbakhsh earlier this week received the Golden Bull trophy after being recognized as the Jupiler League’s player of the season.
The Iranian starlet had a stellar campaign for Dutch second division side NEC Nijmegen’s, scoring 12 goals and providing 18 assists on the way to an Eredivisie promotion.
The 21-year-old saw off competition for the honour from team-mate Sjoerd Ars, Almere City forward Vincent Janssen, and FC Eindhoven midfielder Joey Sleegers and FC Oss striker Jonathan Opoku.
Jahanbakhsh’s achievement with NEC led to an attention from Belgian side Anderlecht, which have declared their interest to sign the Jirandeh-born winger, according to Tasnim News. But Dutch titans Ajax and Feyenoord are also reportedly after the player, leading to the prospect of a summer bidding war.
“I think it’s a dream for everyone to play in the top Dutch teams, but I have a contract with NEC so we should wait to see what happens,” Jahanbakhsh told Fox Sports. “If I have to choose between Ajax and Feynoord? That’s a tricky question. They are both big clubs. Ajax is a classic club while Feynoord’s atmosphere is fantastic.”
The former Damash Gilan player has made 15 international appearances for Team Melli, participating in Iran’s squad for both the 2014 World Cup and 2015 Asian Cup.
