Al Sadd technical director Mohamed Ghanem Al Ali has insisted that the new signing Xavi has the ability to inspire the Qatari club into a glorious campaign next season.
The experienced midfielder has announced on Thursday to end his 24-year reign at Barcelona and revealed his move to join The Wolf in the upcoming transfer window.
“Xavi is a great player and one of football’s legends,” Al Ali told the club’s website. “He has great experience, which will have a huge effect on our players, especially the young ones.
“Signing Xavi came from the club’s philosophy to sign experienced players who can help the young players a lot on and off the pitch. That is what happened when former Real Madrid player Raul came here.
Xavi, who is in his 16th season with Barcelona, has won 22 different titles made Al Ali felt confident with that prestigious reputation, the 35-year-old will play an instrumental role in the club’s continental ambition.
“We hope Xavi can help us to win the AFC Champions league for the third time in our history,” he added.
