Chongqing Lifan goalkeeper Sui Weijie has been fined and is facing a suspension after a terrible mistake cost his team victory.
During a game which relegation threatened Lifan needed to win, the 32-year-old custodian conceded a goal while he was sipping water in a Chinese Super League match against Liaoning Whowin.
His mistake cost them the full points as their opponents scored an equaliser seven minutes from final whistle after Ding Haifeng horridly took the free-kick, dribbling past defenders and slotted the ball into an empty net.
According to Xinhua, Sui has already been punished with a 8,060 USD fine and has apologised following the confrontation from Lifan’s supporters.
“I made a terrible mistake in Sunday’s game and let go a full three points,” he lamented on the incident. “I won’t repeat the same mistake and will never lose concentration.”
