Thailand U-23 defender Narubadin Weerawatnodom says he is eager to face Indonesia U-23 in the 2015 SEA Games final in Singapore.
The Young War Elephants, which will be under Choktawee Promrat’s guidance in this edition, are looking to claim their sixth gold medals and the Buriram United man is hoping they can face their arch-rivals.
“We come into this tournament with confidence to retain our title,” he told ESPN. “But there are many good teams like Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore.
“We can’t think of any opponent as easy and we must have full concentration and focus if we are to reach the final.
Narubadin is determined to repeat his success in 2013 SEA Games final, when he helped Thailand to win the tournament after defeating Young Garuda squad 2-1 in Myanmar.
“I want to play Indonesia if we go to final but now, I take it game by game. Cannot think so far,” the 20-year-old added.
“Indonesia is my choice because this is Singapore’s home ground and if we play them in final, they will be very confident and motivated. So Indonesia is the better choice, more chance!”
Thailand were drawn along with Vietnam, Laos, Malaysia and Brunei in Group B. They are scheduled to play opening fixture against Laos at Bishan Stadium on May 29.
