Chinese star Zhang Xizhe has set his sights on earning a first-team berth at Wolfsburg in the next season of German Bundesliga.
The 2012 Chinese Young Player of the Year winner joined Die Wolfe in last December after completing his switch from Beijing Guoan, but failed to break into the starting eleven.
Zhang, who has been capped 10 times by China, revealed that he did not have a satisfactory campaign at all despite Wolfsburg successfully lifted the club’s first ever German Cup after defeating Borussia Dortmund 3-1 on Saturday.
“The season is finally over. Let’s see what happens next season,” said the 24-year-old was quoted by Titan. “I must work hard in the summer break because it is very important for me.
“I understood that I must be adapted to the team but I did not expect I have to wait for so long.”
The Wuhan-born attacking midfielder had made his single unofficial debut for Wolfsburg in a friendly match against Ajax Cape Town during a winter training camp in South Africa.
