Roberto Carlos has been named as new coach of Al Arabi for the upcoming 2015/16 Qatar Stars League campaign.
The former Real Madrid left-back decided to sign a three-year contract with the Doha-based team after parting company with Turkey’s Akhisar Belediyespor.
“I am very pleased to be part of the project of Al Arabi club and to get to know Qatari football,” said the 42-year-old was quoted by Gulf Times.
The Brazilian legend, who was named as Turkey’s Coach of the Year for season 2013/14, has also promised to promote Qatari football to his native country in order to attract a number of star players.
“I think arriving in Qatar will open a lot of doors for players like Robinho, Julio Baptista or Ronaldinho, there are so many possibilities,” he added.
“Once I go there to work in Qatar, of course a lot of great players of the highest level will want to be there with me, and that will be important for Qatari football.”
