Hyundai A-League side Western Sydney Wanderers have confirmed the departure of Japanese duo, midfielder Yojiro Takahagi and defender Yusuke Tanaka.
The confirmation was made by the Wanderers CEO, John Tsatsimas as the 2014 Asian Champions League released a statement on Saturday.
“Yojiro and Yusuke were complete professionals during their time with the Wanderers and I thank them for their time here in Western Sydney,” said Tsatsimas.
Takahagi, who joined from Sanfrecce Hiroshima in January, made 17 appearances for the Wanderers, scoring three goals. While Tanaka has appeared in 15 games since joining from Kawasaki Frontale.
Previously ten players have also been released from the squad, including fan favorites Iacopo La Rocca, Ante Covic, Kerem Bulut and the Asian Champions League hero Tomi Juric.
Tony Popovic’s men finished ninth in their 2014/15 A-League campaign, failed to qualify for the Finals Series and also made an early exit from the Asian Champions League.
