Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has reportedly considered to leave the English Premier League champions and make a lucrative move to Al Ain in the UAE Arabian Gulf League.
Sources in Nigeria revealed that the 28-year-old representatives will meet Al Zaeem’s officials this week to begin negotiations for a possible transfer for the player who still has a contract at Stamford Bridge until 2017.
“Mikel has told those who are close to him that he has only a short time left before he calls time on his career,” a disclosed internal source told African Football.
“Therefore he is open to a big-money move to Dubai, where he wishes to further secure his future financially.
“He has sanctioned the meeting and may even be part of it. It is now left to be seen what the club will put on the table for him.”
Al Ain ended their 2014/15 campaign as domestic league champions, which is their third league title in four years and comes after the treble they achieved from 2002 to 2004.
