Pahang FA have been awarded a 3-0 walkover against Persipura Jayapura after their AFC Cup round of 16 game was postponed.
The initial fixture was due to be played on May 26 at Mandala Stadium, but abandoned after four of Pahang’s foreign players were denied entry into Indonesia due to visa issues.
Following the incident and after launching investigation, the AFC Executive Committee released an official statement on Wednesday, decided that Persipura shall forfeit the match against the Malaysian Super League side.
“Persipura Jayapura is considered to have lost the match by 3-0 and the decision was taken based on the AFC Cup 2015 Competition Regulations and the AFC Disciplinary Code,” read a statement.
As result, the walkover victory saw the 2014 Malaysia FA Cup winners through to AFC Cup quarterfinals, which later hold the draw on June 16 to decide their opponents.
