In an official statement by the newly-promoted Dutch league team – NEC- Brighton & Hove Albion’s offer price has been accepted by NEC.
Reportedly, Netherland’s NEC club had offered a contract extension to the league’s top striker, Alireza Jahanbakhsh. However, Brighton, an English Championship side who had barely escaped relegation zone last season, was among interested clubs in NEC’s top striker. Scotland’s top team, Celtic, who will play at UEFA Champions League, with high chance of domestic title next season is also in hunt to acquire Alireza Jahanbakhsh. Another interested club is reportedly English Premier League club, Norwich City.
However, so far only second-tier team Brighton has put forward an official bid. The bid of 2 million Euro was accepted by NEC club according to their official statements on the club’s website.
However, it is yet to be a done deal. In a quote by 21-years old’s agent, Amir Hashemi stated: “There is enough interest, so we are not rushed. Alireza has to think very carefully about this step.”
Now that both NEC and Brighton clubs have agreed on offer price, the ball is in Alireza Jahanbakhsh’s court. Iran National team striker has had an outstanding 2014-2015 Season at NEC. He was named Best player of Netherland’s Eerste Divisie league with 19 goals and 24 assists in 64 appearances.
With Celtic and Norwich’s offers looming, the fate of Alireza Jahanbakhsh is not yet clear. If Celtic or Norwich’s offers do not capitalize though, Alireza Jahanbakhsh will be set to wear Brighton’s shirt next season, plying his trade at English Championship.
