Vietnam U-23 striker Mac Hong Quan has lamented their failure to reach SEA Games final after failing to get past the challenge of Myanmar U-23 in the semifinal in couple past weeks.
The Young Golden Star lost 2-1 to the South East Asian rivals despite dominating the game at the National Stadium Singapore, where the 23 year-old had seven opportunities to score but failed to deliver them into Kyaw Zin Phyo’s net.
“I did not understand why I can’t score at that time. Their goalkeeper was undoubtedly great, maybe I didn’t have luck,” said the Than Quang Ninh star was quoted by Bongdaplus.
Mac Hong Quan, who graduated from the Sparta Prague academy in Czech Republic, admitted that his team defeat to Myanmar hurt him and wishes to have a rematch in the future.
“If only we can do better, the result could have been different. I blame myself for that failure, it hurt me and made me can’t eat and sleep when watching the match video,” he added.
Toshiya Miura’s men ended their SEA Games campaign with bronze medal as highest achievement after defeating Indonesia 5-0 in the third place play-off game.
