Japan international Shinji Okazaki is on his way to the Premier League, according to reports in Germany, sparking speculation his destination is Leicester City.
Rhineland newspaper, Allgemeine Zeitung, who closely cover Okazaki’s club Mainz, have reported that a bid from an English side of ten million euro, just over £7 million, has been agreed and the 29-year-old striker is in England to finalise personal details.
The report does not name the club but it does confirm that City bid 12 million euros for Okazaki in January but the bid was rejected as Mainz were battling to stay in the Bundesliga at the time.
Okazaki had just one year left on his contract at Mainz and City boss Nigel Pearson did admit in a press conference towards the end of the season that there had been interest in the striker during the two previous transfer windows.
