English Premier League giants Manchester City are set to open their first academy in Vietnam, according to a Vietnamnet Bridge report.
The youth program will be built in Da Nang city following the chief business officer of Manchester City Football Services, Francisco Lopez’s trip to the south central coast of Vietnam last Wednesday.
During his trip as The Citizens’ representative in the South East Asia’s country, Lopez visited the new stadium of local club SHB Da Nang Hoa Xuan Stadium and the team’s sports centre in Lien Chieu District.
The two-time Premier League champions are one of the most popular English clubs in Vietnam and the academy represents a prime opportunity for Man City to expand their reach into one of Asia’s talent pools.
Meanwhile, previously the Manchester City squad will also have booked their tour to Hanoi for a friendly against the Vietnam national team at My Dinh Stadium on July 27.
