Philippines Football Federation (PFF) has arranged a warm-up match against Vietnam after their initial plan to set up a friendly against Thailand has hit the buffers.
According to the team manager Dan Palami, the Azkals will host the 2008 AFF Suzuki Cup champions on September 3 at Philippine Sports Stadium in Bocaue, Bulacan.
The friendly is a part of Philippines’ build up to the 2018 World Cup and 2019 Asian Cup joint qualifiers’ encounter with Uzbekistan on September 8.
“It’s important for us to utilize the Fifa dates for us to play friendly matches and develop cohesion in the team,” said Palami was quoted by Sports Inquirer.
The Azkals have been impressive in their first two matches, sharing the lead in their group with North Korea with six points each after defeating Bahrain 2-1, in a surprise fashion then blanked Yemen, 2-0 last month.
