Indonesia national team and Suphanburi striker Sergio van Dijk will be out for “a couple of weeks” because of a muscle injury.
The 32-year-old Dutch-born player missed out The War Elephant’s last match in the Thai Premier League on Sunday, when his team won 1-0 over BEC Tero Sasana at 72-years Anniversary Stadium, Bangkok.
It was confirmed by Suphanburi assistant coach Worawut Srimaka that the absence of 2010/11 Hyundai A-League top scorer due to a fitness problem.
“Sergio van Dijk suffered a muscle injury, which made him did not join our squad in the match against BEC Tero,” said Worawut.
“He might need to be sidelined for two weeks. Our medical team will continue to monitor his rehabilitation before giving any further details on the timeline of his recovery.”
Former Persib Bandung goal-getter has produced a standout performance for Suphanburi since the beginning of this season, scoring five goals in 13 appearances.
