Philippines national team manager Dan Palami has urged the fans to come and support the Azkals in the 2018 World Cup and 2019 Asian Cup joint qualifiers against Uzbekistan.
Thomas Dooley’s men will continue their Group H qualifying campaign when hosting the Central Asian side at the 25,000-seater Philippine Sports Stadium, Bocaue on September 8.
“We need the support of Filipino football enthusiasts and even non-football fans to fill up the stadium and applaud and inspire our players to give their best for the country,” said Palami was quoted by GMA News.
Meanwhile the Azkals tactician Dooley also supported Palami’s encouragement. “There’s no better way to push our team to play at the top of their game than the thunderous applause, encouraging shouts of fans and electric atmosphere in the stadium,” he added.
The 2014 AFC Challenge Cup runner-up have been impressive in their first two matches, sharing the lead in their group with North Korea with six points each after defeating Bahrain 2-1, in a surprise fashion then blanked Yemen, 2-0 last month.
