Reports from Korea surfaced that Everton manager Roberto Martinez had expressed his desire of signing Korean defender Kim Young-Gwon.
The Guangzhou Evergrande centre-back, who Marcello Lippi once recommended to Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, is available for around £750,000 which alerted Southampton, Sunderland, Swansea and Celtic in June.
In an interview with Korean website Footballist recently, Martinez confirmed that Everton were in the race for the 25-year-old’s signature. Despite forcing his club to develop home-grown talents, Martinez also wants to sign some quality players from Asia.
Everton just finished Barclay Asia Trophy as runners-up when after losing 3-1 to Arsenal in the final.
