Indonesian teenager Ryuji Utomo has signed for Bahraini second division outfit Al Najma, according to the reports.
The 20-year-old defender, who left Mitra Kukar after the dissolution of Indonesia Super League this season, will join his former coach Rudy Eka in the Manama-based club.
“It is a good opportunity for me to play abroad and I will consider it as a challenge to prove that Indonesian players can compete at higher levels,” he told Kompas.
“I hope that my decision to join Al Najma could be a stepping stone for continue my career to the bigger competitions in the future.”
The former Indonesia U-19 national team member previously also had a trial stint in J-League’s Jubilo Iwata last year along with Syamsir Alam and Gavin Kwan before deciding to join Mitra Kukar.
