V-League side Hoang Anh Gia Lai have sacked head coach Guillaume Graechen following their poor recent run of results.
HAGL, the Arsenal-supported team, have won just one of their last nine domestic league matches and Saturday’s 1-0 defeat by Dong Thap left them sat bottom of the table.
The French tactician will be replaced by his assistant coach Nguyen Quoc Tuan, with the club in the hope that the decision will lead to better results in their relegation battle in the five remaining weeks.
“I am not surprised at the decision of the club because it is what all head coaches of football clubs must think about when their teams are not playing well,” said Graechen was quoted by Tuoi Tre.
Furthermore, HAGL chairman Doan Nguyen Duc revealed that Graechen will take back his previous role as a trainer in youth setup at feeder club Hoang Anh Gia Lai – Arsenal JMG Football Academy.
Graechen was promoted to lead HAGL first team in the V-League this season, with the club decided to use majority of former Vietnam U-19 national team who are graduates from the academy.
