Etheridge set for international duty with Azkals

Walsall goalkeeper is set to join the squad for his country’s upcoming 2018 World Cup and 2019 Asian Cup joint qualifiers next month.

The have a friendly scheduled against Maldives on September 3, followed by qualifier against Uzbekistan five days later at Philippine Sports Stadium in Bulacan, as Thomas Dooley has announced his 23-man for those games.

Etheridge, the England-born who has appeared four times in the English third division this season, will compete with Roland Muller for the starting spot as the Azkals seek their third successive win in the qualifying tournament.

The 25-year-old custodian could miss Walsall’s games against Morecambe on September 2 and Bury on September 5 due to his duties for the national team.
