’s top goalkeeper will be missing when the Socceroos take on Bangladesh and Tajikistan in World Cup qualifiers.

The Valencia shot stopper has been ruled out after suffering a knock to his knee in his club’s La Liga game against Deportiva La Coruna in Spain.

Ryan picked up the injury during the 1-1 draw and will not make the dash to Perth for the match against Bangladesh on Thursday. His place will be taken by Adelaide United goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic.

“It’s a blow for Mat to miss these games but he picked up a knock in Spain overnight and with the travel distance and the lateness of his club game we have decided to bring in Galekovic,” Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou said.

While another goalkeeper, Mitch Langerak, is also injured, Adam Federici will get his chance as back-up for Galekovic. The third choice for Ange Postecoglou is the uncapped Alex Cisak, of English League Two club Leyton Orient.
