Son Heung-min wants to reproduce the impressive form he has shown for South Korea in the joint qualifying of 2018 World Cup and 2019 Asian Cup campaign with new club Tottenham Hotspur.
The 23-year-old was an outstanding performer in the game against Laos on Thursday, as his hat-trick led the Taegeuk Warriors to clinch a prominent 8-0 home victory over the South-East Asian minnows.
Following the positive form, now the former Bayer Leverkusen winger is determined to replicate the same impression for Spurs, where he is expected to make his debut in the English Premier League next week.
“Even against underdogs like Laos, it’s never easy to score even one goal,” he said modestly, while admitting that he always tries to pound on whatever opportunities in every matches.
“I am happy I helped the team win tonight. It’s good to build my confidence back up before joining the Spurs.”
Son will remain in South Korea to handle some paper work necessary to complete his transfer, which means he will miss out the upcoming qualifying game against Lebanon in Beirut on September 8.
