UAE side Baniyas have signed Dutch winger Royston Drenthe on a one-year-deal, to complete their foreign contingent.
The 28-year-old was a free agent after leaving Turkish side Kayseri Erciyesspor, and after talks with PEC Zwolle broke through the winger has decided to move to the West Asian nation.
Having broken his path into the Feyenoord first team in 2005, aged 18, Drenthe was once considered as one of the Netherlands biggest prospects.
However, his move to Real Madrid in 2007, shortly after retaining the U-21 European Championships title and was named as best player saw his career has started on a downward path.
Drenthe made 46 league appearances during his four years at Madrid, before spending spells in England with clubs such as Everton, Reading and Sheffield Wednesday.
