Major boost for South Asian football as Suzuki sponsors SAFF Championship

South Asian football has entered an exciting new era with one of Japanese car manufacturers, Suzuki Motor Corporation signing up as title sponsor of the upcoming 2015 SAFF Suzuki Cup.

The SAFF Suzuki Cup, formerly known as the SAFF Championship, has been the biggest and most prestigious The football competition in the  region since 1993.

The eleventh edition of biennial event will be hosted by  in Trivandrum, Kerala, from December 23, 2015, to January 3, 2016.

“Today, football in South Asia is developing rapidly and we are proud that the SAFF Championship is South Asia’s top football event. This year we welcome Suzuki as our title sponsor. We look forward to Suzuki’s support in building the profile of SAFF Suzuki Cup and elevating its stature across Asia,” said Kazi Mohamed Salahuddin of Bangladesh, the SAFF’s president.

The Managing Officer of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Kinji Saito said the company is honoured to become the title sponsor of the SAFF Suzuki Cup and they hope to contribute to football’s increasing popularity in South Asia.

“We are honoured to become title sponsor of SAFF Suzuki Cup 2015. With SAFF sponsorship, we hope to contribute to the growing popularity of football in South Asia. Also, we would appreciate it if more people get to know our brand through this opportunity,” he added.

Hosts India will go into the hat with holders Afghanistan, Bangladesh, , , , and Sri Lanka, with teams will be drawn into two groups which the official draw is made on September 16 in New Delhi.
