Son Heung-min has spoken of his delight at claiming a brace on his home debut for Tottenham Hotspur.
The 23-year-old versatile forward netted twice in a 3-1 win over Azerbaijani side Qarabag on Thursday night’s Europa League encounter.
“The fans were amazing. It was great at White Hart Lane. It was amazing. The first half was not the best but we’re happy to win,” said the South Korean star after the game.
Meanwhile, Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino also hailed the instant impact of his summer arrival, whose move to north London from Bayer Leverkusen made him the most expensive Asian player in history.
“He scored twice and played one hour,” he said. “His performance, you can see I am very pleased with him, very happy. His adaptation to the club has been good from the beginning.
“I think I explained before the Sunderland game that Son can play like a striker. He can also play wider. He has the quality to play in different positions on the pitch.”
