Malian international attacking midfielder Bakary Sako has revealed that he rejected an extremely lucrative offer from Middle East teams in favour a move to Crystal Palace.
Despite he had an interest from Qatar and UAE, the 27-year-old decided to stay in England after swapping his former club Wolverhampton Wanderers for the Premier League side on a free transfer this summer.
“I could have gone to Qatar or Dubai for crazy money, but I actually came here for less because I wanted to play in the Premier League,” Sako told The Express.
“At my age I am not playing for money,” he asserted. “This is an attractive team that plays football that suits me. This club gave me my chance and I want to do well for them.”
Sako has quickly established himself as a favourite at Selhurst Park this season following his move from Wolves, scoring two goals in four Premier League appearances.
