Vietnam’s Hoang Anh Gia Lai forward Nguyen Cong Phuong is poised to join J.League second division side Mito HollyHock for the 2016 season campaign.
The 20-year-old move to Japan was confirmed by the representative of V-League giants Nguyen Tan Anh, which stated that both clubs were involved in negotiation in many occasions.
“HAGL management always want to support our players to pursue next level and we noticed that Japan is a good place to develop talented players,” he said was quoted by Bongdaplus.
“Now, we have found an agreement regarding Nguyen Cong Phuong’s future to play in Japan.”
The transfer will also see the former Vietnam U-19 skipper to become the second Vietnamese player to play in Japan after Le Cong Vinh with Consadole Sapporo in 2013.
