Portuguese star Helder Postiga is delighted with the Atletico de Kolkata fans’ enthusiasm ahead of the new Indian Super League season campaign which will kick-off on this Saturday.
The 33-year-old striker, who played the European Championship final in 2004 and the 2006 World Cup, signed as the marquee player of the ISL defending champions in July.
“It feels good (to be in India). It’s a different country but the enthusiasm is really good. I love these moments in India and I hope that I will enjoy this more in the future,” Postiga told ISL official site.
“Fans are very enthusiastic there and I hope that the team will respond to that with the same enthusiasm with better results.”
Postiga, who played Spanish La Liga club Deportivo La Coruna in the previous season, is also looking forward to his ISL debut when Atletico de Kolkata face Chennaiyin FC at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
“The first game is very important for all the players of the team including me. I hope we will enjoy and win the game,” he said.
