Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola is ready to offer Blues captain John Terry an escape route to play in the Middle East, according to reports from the Mirror.
Zola is currently in charge of Qatari club Al Arabi after taking over the helm during the summer, and the Italian is looking to sign Terry at the end of the campaign.
The Blues have a contract policy in which any player over the age of 30 will only be given a one-year deal, which means Terry’s current contract will run out at the end of the season.
With the 35-year-old being used as a substitute for much of the term, Zola is considering a shock move to bring Terry to Al Arabi.
However, the Italian will have some competition from Turkish club Fenerbache, who already signed Robin van Persie and Nani from Manchester United during the summer.
Last season, Terry played every Premier League minute in Chelsea’s title-winning campaign, scoring five league goals.
