Kongphop Songkrasin, father and representative of Chanatip Songkrasin, has claimed that there were two clubs from Japanese J-League1 had made formally contacts with him to sign Chanathip.
“There are agents of 2 Japanese clubs that kept contacting and asking me if Jay wanted to move to Japan. I respect BEC Tero, Jay’s contract holders, so I will let the club do their business. My son has a contract lasts until 2018. BEC Tero set 30m Baht on his buyout clause,” said Kongphop.
“I think Japanese teams want ASEAN players because of their image rights in Southeast Asia. Jay is one of the most famous players in this region and he has millions followers. Japanese clubs have been tracking him for a long time.
“I could not not tell which clubs contacted me, but I could reveal that one team had played against Buriram ACL this season and another team is a top team in J1.”
Gamba Osaka was the team that played against Buriram United in the 2015 AFC Champion League group stage.
According to Thai media, beside Gamba Osaka, the other club shown there interest in Chanathip Songkrasin is Sagan Tosu.
