Goal-machine Vathanaka scores again as Boeung Ket Angkor starts Mekong Club Championship with win

maintained his astonishing form with a brace to help to beat 2-0 in the opening match of Mekong Club Championship 2015.

The 1994-born strikers did not start in the match at Chao Anuvong Stadium last night but needed only 8 minutes to score a goal after coming in to replace Chhun Sothearath in the 35th minute .

Nigerian winger Samuel Ajayi ran down the left before crossing into the box for Vathanaka to score an easy tap-in.

In the second half, Lao Toyota fought back strongly but some superb saves from Boeung Ket Angkor goalkeeper Sou Yaty helped the visitors maintain the lead.

And at 87 minutes, Chan Vathanaka put an end to Lao Toyota’s hope with fine solo goal.

The second match of  Mekong Club Championship’s first round will be played on November 22 between Yangon United of Myanmar and Lao Toyota.
