Persepolis striker Jerry Bengtson is keen to finish as the top goalscorer in this season’s Persian Gulf Pro League.
The 28-year-old Honduran international scored his third goal of the season when he netted a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw against Esteghlal in Tehran derby on last Friday.
“I am happy to score in derby and I experienced an incredible feeling after the goal,” said the former New England Revolution foward was quoted by Tasnim.
“Esteghlal is a big team but we found the back of the net after their defenders made mistakes in the last seconds of the match.
“There are so many games ahead of us and we cannot really predict anything but I want to score more goals for Persepolis. I want to become the league’s top scorer,” he concluded.
Bengtson joined Persepolis after signing a one-year contract in August and scored his first league goal for The Reds in a 1-0 victory over Tractor Sazi last September.
